Heath TRAVEL Information

NEWS, EVENTS & THINGS TO DO

Hampstead Heath is only a short distance from central London but there are a variety of routes that can be used to visit it.
Because Hampstead Heath has no public roadways through its main areas, all access to The Heath must be by foot.

Thus the visitor is advised to decide at which part of The Heath's perimiter they wish to start their visit and there are a variety of entry points that might be chosen.

The sensible approach would be to study the City of London's diagramatic map and from this decide where the visit should begin and end.

The map shows ALL bus routes, train and tube stations as well as car parks that can be used.
(Car Parks are open between 7-30am and 8-30pm, daily)

The next thing is to decide how to get to the edge of The Heath from further afield.

Included on this page are all the bus routes, with the main stopping points and tube and train stations that serve some of them.

There are also direct PDF links, where the routes can be studied in more detail.

Included here is a Transport for London form to make the planning a little easier.

The author suggests that the visitor takes either the underground or the overground to the bus stop that is nearest Hampstead Heath, although in some cases the train stops within easy walking distance.
