Near Hampstead Grove stood a large green and an old village tree, under which a George Whitfield preached in 1739, urging his audience to turn from horse-course to spiritual race…hence Preacher's Hill.
Preachers Hill is situated off East Heath Road, opposite the top of Pryors Field
